Paintings
I experimented with different mediums and styles, I found myself drawn time and again to the bright colors and bold lines of the Expressionists. Expressionism is about the artist’s state of mind as opposed to what you see in the world. When I paint, it is never about painting an actual place, but rather about evoking a feeling. When people look at my art, I want them to feel happiness, hope, peace, joy or humor.
There are many elements that make up Expressionism and I have combined most of them in my paintings – bright colors, distorted or exaggerated imagery, primitivism and fantasy. I only use acrylic paint as I like its fast-drying feature and the vibrancy of its colors. Many artists have influenced me – Kirchner, Rousseau, Matisse, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Dali and Klimt. However, I have created a style that is unique and my own.
